BIO
Alexis Walsh Hattendorf is a designer and artist based in New York City. Through the exploration of emerging technologies including 3D printing and digital modeling, integrated with traditional handcraft, Alexis utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to push the boundaries of fashion design. Alexis graduated with honors from Parsons The New School for Design.
In 2014, Alexis was nominated for Fashion Designer of the Year at the 3D Printshow Global Awards. In 2015, she was a featured speaker for the conference "Digital Fashion: Craft + 3D Printing" at 3D Printshow New York, where her work was displayed in a central exhibition. That same year, she was awarded the inaugural Shapeways Education Grant. In 2016, she was a recipient of the Oxford Fashion Studio's Sponsored Designer Invitation to present her work on the OFS Autumn/Winter 2016 runway show for New York Fashion Week. In 2017, 2018, and 2020, Alexis and her design partner Justin Hattendorf were selected as finalists for the Purmundus Challenge international design competition at FormNext, held in Dusseldorf Germany.
In 2020, Alexis and Justin launched JAW Studio, a collaborative design studio based out of Brooklyn, NY. Together they have launched a number of products, including 3D printed jewelry, fashion, hardware, and objects. The products are created made-to-order with a range of sustainable materials and fabrication methods, including a biodegradable 3D printed polymer made from plant sugars and an innovative zero-waste printing process.
Alexis's work has been exhibited in New York, Boston, Paris, London, Moscow, Madrid, Manila, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, and Berlin. In addition to her personal work, Alexis also has a corporate fashion design career working at renowned brands including Gap, Calvin Klein, LOFT, Ralph Lauren, Lululemon, Jordache, and Proenza Schouler.
